  SoundCraft WORKSHOP - Finding the Shape: Form and Structure in Audio Making with @eleanormcdowall and @bevleeharling ✨This workshop explores how to think about form, structure and narrative in audio - from the underlying architecture of a piece to the rhythm and momentum of individual scenes and moments. It will look at how structure can often be crafted long before the edit, in planning and preparation, development work and interview approach. Alongside more conventional modes of storytelling, we will also delve deep into the idea that not all audio work needs to lean on narrative, and look at creative ways to throw off the shackles of ‘story’. We will end the day with a peer-to-peer clinic in which participants share their challenges and quandaries in all things structure, and look for creative solutions together. So, come spend a day by the seaside getting curious and playful in the art of audio structure, while hanging out with some fellow makers!

  ​Film Premiere - We will begin the premiere of THE GANSEY FOLK OF HASTINGS, conceived and directed by friend of Nation of Artisans, Issabella Orlando. ​The film looks at the rebirth of the gansey tradition in Hastings through the eyes of knitters, fisherman, and singers united by a shared passion for the gansey. ​But wait there's more! Not just a film premiere, but live musical performances from Hastings's finest sea shantymen Bob Marlin & the Whalers, as well as Bev Lee Harling, a folk singer famed for her beautiful song of gansies.

  Through a partnership between English folk Expo and Music PEI, Bev Lee Harling has been working with Canadian artist Tara MacLean in a very special pan-Atlantic project. Following time spent together in Prince Edward Island and in Manchester, this concert will be a chance to hear some of the music from two wonderfully talented singer-songwriters.
